It’s been a wonderful month. Plenty of events happened and the fun is just getting started for this year. Many couples came to Leavenworth during Valentine’s Day for the beautiful outdoors and romantic experiences. Come back sooner than later while there’s still snow and enjoy one of our Stay & Play Packages instead. So what’s happening for the month of March? The Annual Leavenworth Empty Bowls Festival is happening!
Since 1996, Nancy Peterson Hilton and her husband Jeff have been hosting the Empty Bowls Festival and each year it has been a total success! The Empty Bowls Festival is a fundraiser that supports the Community Cupboard Food Bank and art education in local high schools. Hundreds of Upper Valley residents participate in this unique event, which is coordinated entirely by local volunteers. Not only do you get to decorate your own, but you can also bid on bowls painted by local artists in the Artist Bowl Auction before the community dinner. Donate here to support the MEND mission.
The Bakke Cup is a Leavenworth Classic event happening this year on March 4, 2018. The event consists of Alpine GS, Ski Jumping, & Nordic and open to any youth ages 6 through 17. Kjell Bakke is actually who the race is named after. He is a constant supporter of the LWSC and kids programs. What’s interesting is he is a descendant of the men that constructed Bakke Hill in the 1920’s.
The current weather conditions are 16°, so still very cold! It might not be a good time just yet to visit our amazing wineries, but it’s still a great time to ski Leavenworth. Our Stay & Play Packages come with lift tickets to Leavenworth’s beautiful Cascade Mountains. Leavenworth has great Live Music events also happening on March 4th throughout the Bavarian Village.
King Ludwigs is hosting Accordionist Frank Calapristi to mesmerize your senses while you dine. The Loft will have a variety of very talented local musicians (No cover). On that same night, the Bavarian Bistro will have gourmet burgers, schnitzel, and craft cocktails. See the music lineup here.
There can’t always be days filled with food and fun, so switch it up with a Hot Yoga class at Beyoutiful on 14th St. Classes starting from the early morning and ending at night. Space is limited. Sign up here.
